HDPLEX Passive NUC Kit For H1 Series
HDPLEX Passive NUC Kit for H1 Series Fanless PC Case

HDPLEX passive NUC Kit is designed for H1 Series fanless PC case includes H1 V3 and H1.TODD. The HDPLEX NUC Kit shares the same six-heatpipe solution as H1 CPU heatsink system. It uses both sides of the H1 fanless PC case to dissipate heat and supports 65W TDP.

HDPLEX passive NUC kit is the best NUC passive cooling solution on the market and it provides significantly better thermal performance than low cost single aluminum plate direct contact solution.

HDPLEX passive NUC Kit supports two heatsink mounting pattern: Three Point Triangle Mounting which is used by 7th Gen NUC and Four Point Square Mounting (35*35mm) which is used by 8th and latest 10th Gen NUC.

HDPLEX passive NUC Kit comes with two I/O shield plate. One supports HDMI plus single USB Type C 3.1 port layout and the other supports dual HDMI layout. The I/O shield plate has two additional USB port and one 5.5/2.5mm DC jack port to route HDPLEX internal power supply DC output to the backplate.

HDPLEX NUC kit currently supports the following NUC board. Thanks to its modular design, HDPLEX NUC kit will be able to support future NUC by adding new I/O plate.

NUC10i7FNK/FNH
NUC10i5FNK/FNH
NUC10i3FNK/FNH
NUC8i7BEB
NUC8i5BEB
NUC8i3BEB
NUC7i7DNBE
NUC7i5DNBE
NUC7i3DNBE
NUC7i7BNB
NUC7i5BNB
NUC7i3BNB

H1.V3 case with NUC kit can also support NUC boards which are not on the above list by modification.

The NUC I/O shield plate is mounted on the H1 Thin ITX plate which supports one single slot PCIE expansion card. H1 series fanless PC case equipped with HDPLEX NUC Kit is the first NUC case to support PCIE expansion card by using a M.2 to PCIE adapter riser cable.

Since NUC motherboard does not provide 12VDC on its SATA power port to support an optional PCIE expansion card which needs 12VDC power to function, an additional 12VDC power source is required.

M.2 slot will be occupied by the M.2 to PCIE riser, SATA SSD is required in this configuration.

HDPLEX H1 series with HDPLEX passive NUC kit is also the first NUC case on the market to support internal power supply. You can have a fully internal power supply solution and does not need an external AC adapter if you use HDPLEX internal 80W or 200W AC-DC adapter with 19VDC output.

HDPLEX Passive NUC Kit can be purchased on the H1 V3 and H1.TODD product page with discount as an optional accessory. It can also be purchased here without H1 series PC Case if you want it for your NUC project.

HDPLEX Passive NUC Kit Installation Guide

First check all of the following content is included in the HDPLEX Passive NUC kit package.

Install the USB 3.0 Cable using M3*8mm screw from H1 PC case installation kit to the NUC I/O plate. If you are using HDPLEX internal 80W/200W AC-DC power supply for NUC, install the 6PIN Molex female to 5.5/2.5mm DC Jack self-lock cable.

Install the NUC I/O plate to the internal side of H1 V3 Thin ITX backplate using four E M3*5mm screws and PCI dust cover bracket using one E. Make sure the NUC I/O plate is on the internal side and matches your NUC output layout.

Install four F:17mm copper stud spacer to the H1 case bottom plate. You could first drive a regular M3 screw through each mounting hole to smooth the M3 thread and then applied the 17mm copper stud.

Install the 2.53mm to 2mm pitch front header adapter to the NUC front panel for PWR and PWR LED. Install SODIMM memory and M.2 SSD or M.2 to PCIE dapter. If you are using SATA SSD or other SATA device such as slim optical tray loading drive, install both the SATA power and data cable. Last, install the USB 2.0 cable in either one of the USB 2.0 1.25mm pitch header.

If you are installing PCIE expansion card, install the M.2 key to PCIEx4 riser instead of M.2 SSD. Please also install the SATA power cable and SATA data cable as M.2 SSD is disabled in this case. Install the PCIE card to the H1 Thin ITX backplate before installing this backplate to the H1 two side panels.

Install NUC motherboard to the four copper stud with NUC CPU facing upwards.

Install HDPLEX Thin ITX backplate to the H1 two side panel using four M5 CUP Head HEX screws from H1 package.

Install H1 PWR cable to the 2.54mm-2mm adapter. Plug the USB 3.0 into either one of the NUC front USB 3.0 port and install USB 3.0 ear to the I/O plate using two M3*8mm from H1 installation kit. Plug 3.5mm jack to the NUC front audio port and lock the other end on the H1 side panel. Install 80WAC/200WAC to H1 bottom plate and connect its DC output to the 6PIN-5.5/2.5mm DC jack cable.

Apply a thin layer of thermal paste to the NUC CPU top surface and NUC Heatsink copper base bottom surface.

Please use four M2.5*8mm for 8th Gen NUC square 35*35mm mounting and one M2.5*12mm plus two M2.5*10mm flat head screws for three-point triangle mounting. Using the incorrect type or length of M2.5 screws will cause conflict with SODIMM memory or heatpipes.

Before mounting the copper base, please apply a gentle pressure to the middle area of the copper base to make sure it sits evenly on the NUC CPU top surface and its bottom surface is in good contact with all area of NUC CPU top surface. Then apply the same amount of torque on all mounting screws until the copper base is firmly attached. Please DO NOT over tighten the mounting screws as it will put too much pressure on NUC CPU top surface and highly likely to cause uneven contact between copper base bottom surface and NUC CPU.

Apply a very thin layer of thermal paste to the NUC copper base groove and heatpipe groove on both side panels using the dumbbell tool from the H1 PC case package.

Install six heatpipes and H-9 black plate to both side panels using H-4 M3*14mm screws from H1 CPU heatsink system to lock six heatpipes to both side panels.

Install the aluminum top plate using four A: CUP head HEX M3*10mm screws.

Heatpipes are NOT included in the HDPLEX passive NUC kit since H1 CPU heatsink system already has them. We provide six heatpipes with thermal paste as an option accessory on the NUC Kit purchase page. If you want to purchase HDPLEX NUC kit for your own project, you could add this option to get the six heatpipes.

Install the PCIE Riser Card. Since M.2 socket provides 3.3V only, for PCIE card which needs 5V, please use the FDD to SATA power cable included with the M.2 to PCIE riser to get 5V from NUC SATA power output. If your PCIE card needs 12VDC, you would need to find a 12VDC source. The only 12VDC source from NUC is its fan connector which supports 0.5A.

Install the SSD using H1 HDD rack.

If H1 HDD rack does not align up with its mounting hole on both side panels, do the following:

A: loosen the four M5 CUP Head HEX screws which attach the back plate to both side panels.

B: loosen the eight CUP Head M3*10mm which attach the aluminum top plate to the NUC heatsink copper base.

Then adjust/tilt both side panels until they align up with the HDD rack.

If you are using HDPLEX internal 80W/200W ACDC adapter, please plug the 5.5/2.5mm male to male cable.
